I was sitting in the park with an old friend who had just returned from a sabbatical leave in the U. K. she was a lecturer in psychology at the University of Western Australia and this was the first time we had met since her return. Briefly, she told; me about her journey and what had happened to her and told me about her journey and what had happened to her and then she reached inside her bag, pulled out a book and handing it to me said, ''You should read this.''
The moment the book was place in my hands I felt a very strange vibration within by body. I thought she must be playing a trick on me and said, ''What are you doing?''
She simply repeated, ''You should read this. ''I opened the book and read, ''a moment comes to everyone at some time or other, a moment comes to every human being when he feels total hopelessness.''
My mind went into shock. This was my exact situation. I had a case load of eighty clients in my psychotherapy practice. Nothing much was changing for them and in turn I was becoming more and more burdened.
As I continued to read, a way of dealing with neurotic ego structures was revealed to me that changed both my own life and my clients' lives forever. It was not that I was unfamiliar they had not influenced the way in which I had worked. The commentaries, however, which you will read in this book were unlike anything I had ever come across before. If you had asked me in what way they were different, I could not have told you, except that from the very moment I read continuing.

All the mystics say essentially the same thing: become a witness to the mind. Patanjali, who is said by Osho to be ''an Einstein in a world of Buddhas,'' shows us, step by step, how to attain this state ''when you can simply look without being identified with the mind, without judging, without appreciating or condemning, without choosing - simply looking while the mind flows, a time comes when by itself, of itself, the mind stops.''
This stopping opens a gap. In that gap a bridge is created between this world and the beyond. To take the challenge and cross this bridge is to know; that which you really are; that which is never born and never dies.
