Dr. Kamala Hampana is an erudite scholar and her researches on Jainism has shed flood light on various aspects. She has demonstrated indomitable courage and sacrifice of women by illustrating appropriate incidents from ancient and medieval inscriptions. Quoting profusely from classical and modern literature, she has brilliantly narrated at length how women have successfully come a long way. This book underlines how Jainism flourished as the State religion and notable writers in Sanskrit, Prakrit and Kannada enriched literature in all allied discipline., A spectrum of Jaina literature, culture and history are the subjects included in this remarkable book. In brief, the book is almost an abridged encyclopedia and every article bears imprints of the author.
